The history of El Nacional Barcelona

Modernisme and gastronomy

El Nacional occupies a Modernist building from 1889 in the heart of Barcelona. Formerly a theater, factory, dealership, and garage, it now preserves the essence of its industrial architecture to bring a unique gastronomic multi-space to life.

The Architecture

An iconic venue

In the heart of Passeig de Gràcia, El Nacional brings together more than 2,600 m² devoted to gastronomy, architecture and Barcelona’s social life.

An iconic venue with capacity for more than 700 diners, where every visit can take a different form: lunch, dinner, a toast, a celebration or simply going with the flow.

The building preserves the strength of its past through large windows, metal pillars, high ceilings, and modernist details. This architectural legacy is not merely viewed from a distance; it is experienced around a table, at the bar, or in any of its dining spaces.
